《奪命金》

Life Without Principle Myolie Wu

YouTube comment @12141312: 「不知為何, 任何以前TVB的甘草演員, 在杜sir的電影中都好像…經過 “電鍍" 般, 特別 “發光發亮"!」

@tlcwrain replies: 「yesyes! 連胡杏兒都變得不一樣!so lucky for her to be in 杜導’s film, 期待啊~」

The Rippling Blossom

i quite like this show. i have to admit, i quite like this show. despite all clichés, the classic revenges in modern time, occasional prop flaws (that’re quite common TVB-wise), unexplainable natural phenomena such as out-of-nowhere fireflies that lead the way to your family and lover (which, i have to say is carried out quite romantically nicely nonetheless) and sudden solar eclipse, there are many things that i like about this show. i love the sound effects, the selection of music is actually okay; personal favourites are the sad song played every time when 魚至嬴 and 姜羌 are lost, and the silly notes when something awkward happens (if you know what i mean). overall, the script is very good (i’m not saying great). good because it carries dignity and thought in developing the characters and their relationships, and the actresses and actors deliver them well. and the cinematography is fine. rarely, everyone looks good in it! (i don’t understand how beauties such as Sonija Kwok or Raymond Wong can look bad in a few of the crappy dramas these years. i don’t mean them, but the lighting and makeup just make them look bad). this drama is not cheesy at all. i can even give it a B+ (only 周旭明’s league can enter the A grade). but that’s purely on aesthetics and plot. when it comes to (animal) ethics, it’s a great fail — we’ll come to that soon.

sorry that i’ve been gone for a week so i can’t make happy screen caps from last week. this week’s episodes are a bit gloomy.

i normally can’t stand proverbs or absurd family mottos (does your family have a motto?) repeatedly annoyingly recited throughout the whole drama e.g. 說好話 做好事 存好心, but i like this line: 友達以上,戀人未滿. i’m really a bit overwhelmed by the romance between 孖姜 and 畸型 alright. i mean 囂哥 and 思蘢 are great. but 姜羌 and 嬴仔 are GREAT. i love the chemistry between 胡杏兒 and Chilam, love them esp at the beginning when it’s all so funny, then when they turn sober the bittersweetness is just right. and, how could Chilam look so good? Really, not just the dimples, but the deep double eyelids, the straight nose, the hair that changes in shape according to his different emotions (hairstylists are finally doing something right), every feature! and 胡杏兒 too. i’ve said i haven’t found a good role of her in recent years, but this should be one! finally something more mature and deeper.

CINEMATOGRAPHY APPRECIATION: this is my FAVOURITE SCENE. it’s reeeally beautiful, also echoing with the first episode when 謝天華 and 楊怡 look through the glass respectively.

「我最憎啲青靚白淨讕靚仔嘅男人」FAV x) @CHILAM

hey and the plot between 慕容San and 呵姐 is not bad! though it smells serious patriarchy, well, this thing happens in japan so it’s reasonable. still sweet.

and how about 魚仔. have i told you 敖嘉年 is one of my favourite TVB actors? :)

every character is lovable in the end. even 冷雍容, even 至囂. there is a touch of humanity in all of them, that makes the characters real persons.

BUT SPEAKING OF HUMANITY, THIS SHOW IS A TOTAL FAIL.

(composite image. of course the last part isn’t shown in the series)
don’t think you can confuse us with subtitle. 金槍魚 is 吞拿魚. 藍鰭金槍魚 IS BLUEFIN TUNA WHICH IS ENDANGERED. GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE YOU FREAKING ADVERTISEMENT. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUSLY BLATANT, NOT EVEN SUBLIMINAL.

ARE YOU SERIOUS, SHARK FIN, AT THIS TIME? I THINK YOU GOT SOMETHING WRONG.
潮流興CONSERVATION, NOT FUSION.

TVB you got their money so can’t do warning. Let me do it for you:

SERIOUSLY.

comparatively, the ad becomes a less important issue. but still, it’s obligatory to post.
